One of the stories we tell about our earlier days was how nearly a hundred investors passed on us when we were first trying to fundraise. They would give us silly reasons, like our market size being too small, or that we were located in Sydney far away from their HQ (and how they couldn’t ride their bike to see us from the bay area), or that we didn’t quite have the numbers they needed to see to invest.

We met Wesley and he led our Series A after his first meeting with us, when he quickly came to believe in Canva and what it could become.  He ignored what other investors did or said and gave us no silly excuses to pass.  He believed in the future potential of Canva so much that he told everyone early on – including the press – that Canva would be one of the biggest companies in the world, and he even came back to lead another round of investment.

Seven years after Wesley invested – and joined our board of directors – Canva is one of the world’s most valuable and fast-growing internet companies, and we have well over $1B of ARR.  We are excited that Canva is the first investment out of his new fund, FPV. As we tell Wesley and the world, we’re only 1% of the way there, so there’s a long journey ahead that we could not be more thrilled to be on with FPV.

Wesley was an incredible supporter and investor before many people could even see Canva’s potential.
